Harmonics
Türkçe: Harmonik
Disturbing current and voltage components at whole multiples of the grid frequency (50 Hz), created by non-linear loads.
// EXPLANATION
Rectifiers, switched-mode power supplies and frequency converters distort current away from a sine wave. Harmonics add heating in conductors, transformers and capacitors; third harmonics add up in the neutral conductor and can overload it. They are reduced with active or passive filters.

Power factorThe ratio of real power (kW) to apparent power (kVA); for sinusoidal waveforms it equals cos φ, and the closer to 1 the more efficiently the system runs.
Reactive power compensationRaising the power factor by supplying the reactive power drawn by inductive loads locally with capacitors.
Power electronicsThe field of converting electrical energy from one form to another (AC-DC, DC-DC) with semiconductor switches such as MOSFETs and IGBTs.
