SF6 gas
Türkçe: SF6 gazı
A gas used in MV/HV switchgear for its excellent insulation and arc-quenching properties, and also a very potent greenhouse gas.
// EXPLANATION
Sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) is about five times denser than air and extinguishes arcs rapidly by capturing electrons. Because its climate impact is thousands of times that of carbon dioxide, leaks are monitored closely and newer equipment favours alternative gases or vacuum technology.
